City Council Approves 2005
City Street Resurfacing Contract

On August 16th of this year City Council read aloud all sealed bids received for the resurfacing of several sections of City Streets.  Two bids were received from the companies of: “Shelly Company, Inc.” and “Shelly & Sands Inc.” Shelly & Sands Inc. submitted the lowest bid at 44 dollars per ton of ODOT item 404 asphalt concrete.  At the regular meeting of City Council on September 6^th, City Council approved a contract with Shelly & Sands Inc. to perform the resurfacing job. The City issued a notice to proceed to the Contractor requesting that the work begin on September 26^th.  The Contract time for completion is 19 consecutive calendar days beginning on the 26^th.  The Contract deadline to complete the work is therefore October 14^th.  The funds used to pay for the project will be provided by the City Street Resurfacing Line and the General Fund Permissive Line. These lines are funded through the City income tax and the State Gasoline Tax respectively.
