State Route 104 Storm Sewer Project hits speed bump;

The City received word in December of 2008 that their application for funding submitted to the Ohio Department of Transportation in February 2008 has been denied. The application requested 2.1 million dollars to construct a storm sewer collection system for the St. Rt. 104 corridor in Waverly that experiences constant flash flooding as a result of an inadequate and in some cases non existent storm sewer system, presently serving the roadway.
Nathan Davis, the City’s Administrator charged with the grant writing and project development for these types of projects, was invited to sit down with ODOT District 9 Officials on January 22nd of this year and discuss ways that the project application could be revised and re-submitted.  Presently the Ohio Department of Transportation is undergoing a reorganization of their available funds but will call for Small Cities program applications again in the very near future. Mr. Davis will submit a new application requesting funding for the project as soon as ODOT requests such submittals and pending City Council approves such action.  If the application is submitted and approved in 2009, funding would be made available to construct the project in 2012.
