South Connector Plan

Waverly South Connector Project Acquires Additional Funding Pledge

The City of Waverly submitted an application to the Ohio Transportation Review Advisory (TRAC) Committee on December 23, 2004 requesting funding for the planned Waverly South Connector. On December 30th the City received a letter from ODOT Director Gordon Proctor, addressed to Congressman Rob Portman, stating that the “South Connector” although appearing not very competitive in the Ohio TRAC criteria, looked to be very competitive in the “Ohio Small Cities Program.” The Director also stated that the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) was committed to the procurement of 4 million dollars for the project from the Ohio Small Cities Program and that ODOT would take over the administration for the City. The money could be secured as early as 2007 which would be two years sooner than the original finance plan drafted by City Planning Staff. The Waverly South Connector Project is estimated at a total cost of 8.1 million dollars. The procurement of 4 million dollars from the Ohio Small Cities Program in addition to the 1million already secured by Congressman Rob Portman, US House of Representatives, positions the project at 50% funded.
