Waverly South Connector Project Officially endorsed by City Council
The City Council of Waverly officially endorsed the “Waverly South Connector Project” by a 4 to 2 vote on Tuesday December 7, 2004 during a regular session of City Council. City Resolution #89-2004
while endorsing the City Governments support of the project also gave authorization to the Mayor and Auditor to submit an application to the Ohio Transportation Review Advisory Committee requesting financial assistance in the amount of 5.6 million to be earmarked towards construction of the proposed roadway estimated to cost a total of 8.33 million, to include environmental studies and technical design. In November of 2004, Congressman Rob Portman, (R)US. House of Representatives announced the appropriation of 1million dollars towards the project as approved by the US Senate in the FY 2005 Department of Transportation, Treasury and Independent Agencies Bill. These funds may be used for either the construction stage of the project estimated to be 6.6 million or they may be used for environmental review and design estimated to be 725 thousand. Other potential sources for the project are the Ohio Access Road Program as administered by the Ohio Department of Development.
