The US House of Representatives, Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved the six-year 275 billion highway and transit funding bill, which authorizes Congressman RobPortman’s request
for $4.1 million to construct a new roadway, referred to as the “Waverly South Connector”. This roadway would connect US Highway 23 State Route 104 and State Route 220 within the Southwest side of the City of
Waverly. See Proposed Alignment on Drawing Above. The House will vote on the authorization during this week (March 29-April 2).
The South Connector will provide much needed alternate access to the new Waverly City School District Campus Site on St. Rt. 220 and will open a 300+ acre area of undeveloped, land within the
City, for future business and residential development.
“Transportation funding and development is crucial to grow our local economy. The South Connector project will create needed construction jobs and help with local economic
development. In addition to improving safety, this new road project will help alleviate traffic congestion,” said Congressman Rob Portman (R), US House of Representatives.
