Ford Avenue Reconstruction to begin April 1 (posted 2-6-04)

Beginning April 1 Ford Avenue will begin being removed and replaced with new asphalt base and surface material. The new road will also be approximately 7ft. wider than the existing paved surface and will contain concrete curb and gutter outfalls.  Ford Avenue’s existing intersection with West North St. (St. Rt. 220) will be straightened and widened. The construction contract was awarded through public bids received in September of 2003 and was awarded to Foil Inc. The total estimated cost of construction for the project is $180,000 with 80% being provided from a grant awarded by the Ohio Public Works Commission.  The remaining 20% will be provided by the City Government of Waverly as appropriated in the fiscal year 2003 budget.  The purpose of the reconstruction is to contribute to better traffic safety upon the opening the new Waverly City School District Campus in the fall of this year.
