Mayor William A. Kelly was presented a check from T.J. Justice, the Director of the Governor’s Office of Appalachia, in the amount of $140,050.00 targeted for a planned waterline extension on St. Rt. 335 in the northeast section of the City. The City will contribute the remaining 20% of the cost to the project from the 2005 Water Fund. The funds are being awarded by the Appalachian Regional Commission and shall be administered to the City by the Ohio Department of Development.

The Project will consist of 3,841 linear feet of 8inch waterline and 7 fire hydrants, which will be connected to the City’s existing distribution system.  The project has been designed by APX Consulting out of Wheelersburg, OH who contracted with the City’s Water Department Last Summer.  The project is scheduled to be put out for bids in March of this year, following the completion of a required Environmental Review that is being conducted by the City’s Community Economic Development Director, Nathan Davis.  Once the environmental is completed, the waterline will serve 11 existing residents who are not presently served by a public water system. The waterline will also allow for future development along the St. Rt. 335 Corridor.
